Lesson 16 : F4 in Elder's Eyes

Elders are people in the same industry, who have been through everything to get to where they are now. Let's consider what some elders think of F4 and they critical analysis of them...what can they improve on?

He Jun Xong
He can be considered one of the most prominent elders and is filming with Fan Zhi Wei at the moment. When talking with reporters about what he thinks of the new generation of actos, his opinion of Jerry Yan is very simple: "He is very in with the time (you3 shi2 dai4 gan3), he can make it." To get such a review is not easy, especially from someone of such status. Firstly, at the same time he said that Fan Zhi Wei's (whom he is working with) acting is not up to par yet, hence there is a comparison. Secondly, he didn't need to leave Jerry with face.

Ceng Jiang
He is someone, who has actually taken part in the production of internaional movies production, and he worked with Jerry in MG2, so what does he think about our Jerry?
"Is very good looking, even looking from afar, you can immediately detect his star qualities, very professional, respectful towards elders and listens to advice."

Jie Jiao (Ceng Jiang's wife)
She has been filming cantonese movies for over ten years. In his eyes, Jerry is a mother-loving nice young man.
When she was asked: "Jerry has mood swings? Is that true?"
Answer: "Possibly due to all the pressure and sometimes he is very emotional, but he is still very well-mannered. He likes to chat to me and talk about his mum. He once asked me why even though I am about the same age as his mother, yet I look so young? I told him that it's due to the way we dress and that if his mother maintained a young state of mind, and dress younger, then she would not feel old. Then he took a photo with me and said that he will show his mother the photo and hope that she will be as happy as me and as young as me."

Zheng Pei Pei
She refers to Jerry as if he is like her younger brother. "That is why F4 are so popular. They make you feel related to them, there's this down to earth feel about them."
Why does she like << Meteor Garden >>?
"Basically, I feel that there must be a reason as to why somethings can gain people's attentention. F4's << Meteor Garden >>, many young boys and girls can relate to the story. Guys have found their San Cai, girls have waited for their DMS to appear...because in reality, there are none of these things, you can't find that kind of love in existence...even someone who doesn't believe in love was overwhelmed. Even though it's fake, it does not stop us from dreaming."

Director Cai
He is their inspiration teacher, in his eyes F4 is..."Most clever but can't pronouce clearly - Vic Zhou, too smart but not natural - Ken Zhu, very hard working but too nervous - Jerry Yan, very warm but too westernised - Vanness Wu."

He expressed that during the filming of << Meteor Garden >>, Jerry's performance (not as in the final performance) was not too good, he was too nervous but thankfully, Da S helped alot to help the 4 young actors finally entering their role. According to director Cai, he feels that ZZ is the smartest, at first he was not confident but gradually put himself into the role. Though he's too skinny and should exercise more.

Jerry is very serious and hard working but nerves get the better of him and this also affects other members of the cast. Ken likes music and singing but sometimes can be too smart. Vanness is very open and likes to frequently change hair styles.

Liu Tian Jian
Ken once went to him to ask for advice:
"I feel that Ken has a typical Capricorn characteristic and that is he is passionate about music and is very persistent. He's very clear about what he likes to hear, from guitar stuff to ROCK, this is something that won't change. This is what he wants to express, persistence in music and its style. He once asked me whether it was too late to become learn about the music industry behind the scenes and I hold him it's never too late, as long as you want to, it's never too late."

Ken is very 'xiao4 shun4', whether it is friendship or love, he treasures them all.

So in actual fact all of everyone has their own talents and room for improvement, whether it be F4 or you...so everyone JIA YOU!
