Lesson 19 : F4's Image

Even though it's been a month, I believe we are still mesmorising about the four guys during their Pepsi Charity Concert. Some say that what they wore and their image there was the best, even surpassing their HK concert... So let's have a look at their various images so far...Basically their images can be divided into 2 - infront of the camera and behind the scenes. Of course, the ones in front of the camera are designed by others, and behind the scenes are what they wear in their personal lives.

IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA:
Every part of them is organised by others. From head to toe, hair to makeup are all done by someone else. As for their clothes, it has always been done by Dong Sun Hua, hair by Benny, and makeup by Ai Le Feng.
These three people have been there from the very start. But as for commercials, guest star appearances and concerts etc...is all managed by the respective directing company. Of course, these three will always be there to lend a hand, that way there can be a guarantee to the final product.

Flower 4 Period: From their filming of Meteor Garden to Meteor Rain, they transformed from ordinary people on the street to "gui gong zi" and "shao ye" and then everyone's dream F4. All in all, it was a very successful transformation.

In MG, the first half when DMS has the "feng li tou" and wears that shiny leather jacket...was a bit over the top. But in the latter half, when his hair came down and started wearing dark coloured clothing, he became much more matured. The change in image matched the change in the storyline and his character, because DMS also matured.

Whilst the other F3's images were similar to that of the characters from the original comic - Xi Men "si1 wen2", Mei Zuo long hair and westernised, while Lei has that brown hair. In comparison, Vanness' hairstyle was the worst, making him having to flick his hair every now and then, looking a bit unnatural.

Their planned image for Meteor Rain was as it turned out to be, the only problem was that they were going to wear pink clothes...but seriously..they are guys...it's impossible to look good in pink.

Other Serials:
During the filming of Ping Qiong, Mi Tao and Ju Zi Jiang, Love Scar and Come to My Place, F4 were working apart. Their images became more matured. One of the much improved image was Jerry's role in Come to My Place - Jerry in suit...simply the best!

But Ken's university student image in Marmalade Boy wasn't so great, that big coat he wore made his stomach look a bit fat...is that our Ken?

Vanness' scene when he sends Cheng Xiao Yi to the airport, he was wearing a deep red jumper with jearns...being straight to the point, he was even thinner than the girl(at the hips)...a perfect triangular body!

Then there's ZZ's image in Come to My Place, it seemed he matured too rapidly...not ZZ -like at all!

Commerical and Other Activities: The "yang2 guang1" big boys image suits them very well. The casual clothing made them look more comfortable and didn't need to purpose put on a pose. Including their Pepsi commerical, Lilo and Stitch, Mingles, Lu Pian and S&K etc...

In the Lian Xiang, Siemens those kind of commercials, there seems to be this effect put into trying to show that they are a group...with costumes all colour coordinated - all red, all white, all silver...

Meteor Garden II
In MG2, there are many areas in which the stylists could improve on. Did you guys notice the following:
1) Jerry's hair was way too long and big.
2) He always wore that white t-shirt...tore and tattered...I'm beginning to wonder if it belongs to Jerry himself...that's probably what he wears to bed! Only have to get out of bed and can start filming without changing! Haha...
3) When Mei Zuo start wearing colourful clothing? All that pocka-dots and loud colours...
4) Lei...his character always seem tired, his clothing too! His clothes does not seem to bring him to life...and they are really big on him...who said large people should wear large clothing?
5) The other classic is Ye Sha with her bra-strap showing...

Concert
There are good parts in both their concert tours (Music Party and F4 Fantasy). Here are some facts:
- Vanness can't get by without revealing his chest and his wonderful 8-pack.
- ZZ always wears big dangley coats that's just way too big and saves him moving too much.
- Ken likes that punk style outfit...but that mohawk was really interesting!
- Jerry only bares the arms.

All in all, their tuxedo segment was just the best!

I think some of you would agree with me that their red Hawaii costume was just a laugh. Seriously I can't understand why someone would put so much flowers on something that looks like PJs. Especially Ken and Vanness' 3/4 pants...what can I say?
Singing Meteor Rain in their pajamas...OMG!

So I must say, this Pepsi Charity Concert was one of the best in terms of what they wore. But this time it probably had nothing to do with Mr Chen, as it seems that Pepsi must have hired their own Stylist. All the superstars had one style. The stylist appeared to really know what suited F4. Jerry's flaired pants made his legs look longer (did they ever!), the blue really suited ZZ...let's applaud the stylist!

BEHIND THE SCENES F4
In private F4 wear...umm...
- Jerry and his t-shirts like in Ma La Xian Shi...
- ZZ should be the same
- Vanness...the 24 hours gym collection. I wonder if he wears his gym clothes under his other clothes so that he can exercise anytime, anywhere...
- Ken's probably the one that knows how to dress himself...knows to wear jackets and carry a bag. Those black glasses really suit him...definitely improving!

Whatever evaluation I have put forward here...I'm sure not all of you guys will agree because in reality, we get excited over whatever F4 wears...whether it be t-shirt, jeans, shorts... or even nothing at all! Hehe...
