Lesson 26 : F4 - Not So Stereotypical Idols

They don't care too much for their public image

Jerry:
Seriously...their clothing and what they wear is a real worry. If we drag anyone off the street, they would be dressed better than them. Up until today, Jerry still uses his old wallet and wears that same pair of jeans he torn when falling off his bike. Even though he knows there will be hundreds of fans and reporters at the airport waiting for him, he still doesn't bother shaving. But what I can't stand the most is that fisherman's hat of his..he's been wearing it for almost 2 years...but thankfully, he's changed that to a cap now...

Zai Zai:
- He likes to wear comfortable clothes. Let me teach you something first there is such a thing as "clothes before sleep" - what you wear before going to bed. But our ZZ likes to wear that on the streets, or even wear it to work...
- He's never given himself pressure to lost some weight and even called his fat, his new friends! If he knew what other artists go through to lose weight - not eating rice for 2 years...I think he would be on his way back to Yilan eating his dad's chillis already!

Ken:
Before getting his haircut, he likes to tie it up in a ponytail and wear glasses. I wonder if he's trying to look like those carefree artists...

Vanness:
- He is ignorant about his image in a different way. He's never been afraid of rumours like most idols. When he became famous, he was often caught going out with Elva and eating out with other girls. Now it's Vivian. Having friends is a good thing, if he just went out with guys, he would be labelled as 'gay'. That's why Vanness couldn't care less about his so called "image".

When in front of the camera- it films statues

What I mean here is that when the four guys see the camera, they would naturally take a step back. If there was a hole in the ground they would compete to be the first to go down that hole. If there's no way out...they would mutter and mumble or say 'not so funny' jokes. If you want to see them at a serious interview...not in this life time!

If you still recall the Fantasy album release press conference, the HK media were complaining about something. What might that be? They couldn't get a picture with all four in the shot!

Lately, I've been watching the CTS site clips with Jerry and there was an interview of him talking about Ma La. The reporter got a few of the actors together, during the interview Jerry stood 4-5m away from the reporter and chatted with other actors instead...this is outrageous!!

This is what the four would normally do infront of the camera:
     Jerry:
     Silence...silence...for at least 30 seconds
     Zai Zai:
     "Fa dai" and droop his head, making the reporter think he's gone to sleep
     Vanness:
     Listen to the question and stare...pretent his Chinese is very bad.
     Ken:
     Look left and right then divert the important question into a totally pointless topic and act very happy!

When they appeared on Taozi's show to promote their new album, it was troublesome. They appeared in pairs, first was Jerry and Vanness. She tried to get them to talk aboutt the album and concert...but it ended up being instant noodles and getting Ai Le Feng to have a spin...when they left nothing was said. Then it was ZZ and Ken, again Taozi focused on their album as the topic of conversaiton...ZZ just talked all over the place...only Ken managed to get a few words through.

So to Taozi jie, Xiao Yan jie, Jiaqian jie, I kowtow to you...thank you for putting up with and looking after the four "idiots". *runs away before everyone chucks rotten egg at me!*

Apparently, someone once said that to create a good image for an artist, someone hired people to pretend to be "fans". If this was the case for F4...well, if they want to pay us...even better! Just kidding lah...we do it all because we love them!

Insteresting Fact:
During the Ma La era, Jerry went on a bus once and the girl sitting next to him fell asleep on his shoulders. Jerry had to get off the next stop but seeing the xiao meimei was sleeping so soundly, he decided not to get off and let her continue sleeping. When the xiao meiemei finally woke up, he got off and had to catch the bus back again...OMG!!

Ok...I'll end the lesson here. I must also thank another person and that is Cai Jie. No matter what, when she decided to use these four guys (who have no attributes of idols in their blood what so ever) to star in her idol drama - all I can say is she was brave and had good eyes!!
