Lesson 38 : F4 Treat You As A Friend

"Because I think of you as a friend, whatever you want me to do, I would do it without a blink of an eye. If we ever lost contact, I will respect your choice to be free. F4 has said many times that they treat us fans as their friends and often even call us friends. But we as friends..what have we done for them? And in their eyes, how do they view us?

JERRY
"I feel that the friends that like me and I are also a group, it is some kind of special fate that brings us together." - Amphibian

"I sometimes wonder if it is because the Buddah is repaying me for my past life and granted me so many supportive friends. But I won't just depend on good luck...I wiill think of it, especially when I am down, as strength to push me on, it is as if my friends are saying to me: 'Jia You! You must go forward! you must let those that misunderstand you and those who hate you see how good you are.' Without this strength, I don't think I would have the courage to walk foward..." - Interview

Jerry would often download messages of his 'friends' and read them one by one. He treasures his fans, not just our cheers and screams but also out understanding for him.

"Actually, when I don't feel well, I would read the letters friends send me. Through their letters, I realize these fans are not 'blind'. When they write, they don't say how they like you but rather their views about you - how your acting has changed etc. I feel that I can gain alot from their opinions, becase I don't have many friends around me that give me those suggestions - so straightforward and so honest. So yes, I can very thankful for those who send me letters and direct me in life." - Interview

Next time if you are writing him a letter or leaving him amessage, remember - he will read it. Have you expressed your understanding?

After entering showbiz, Jerry has been the happiest when he has been given the opportunity to learn things, like the piano, dancing, acting...whatever. Because of his family environment during his childhood days, he was not given such opportunities. Now that he has it, he treasures it dearly.

He also treasures improvements in his fans, when one friend told him that they got fourth in the class for an exam, he took it as encouragement for himself. So think about it, rather than spending money chasing after him and buying stuff for him, why not work harder yourself? Next time you see Jerry, if he asks you how your studies are going..what will you say?

The activity that Jerry loves the most, is being able to meet his friends face to face during autograph sessions and handshaking sessions. What he doesn't like the most is friends doing dangerous things, like chasing their cars. To a fillial person, not treasuring ones own life is the worst sin and it is also a stupid thing. So when you go to the airport to meet them next time, remember to act safely - that's the most important!

VANNESS
He said once: "Watch for F4's potential, we will not disappoint you guys!" Exactly, we are noticing your potential, F4 doesn't like to be seen as a mere idol group. Don't worry, those who do have long gone by now, the rest of us will be with you every step of the way!

"I have a fan who has moved me greatly, she is Ah Sang (I think). Because everytime she attends my performances, she would watch it carefully. Or draws me moods into a cartoon and then write in English to explaing to me. Also, when the workers at Comicz tell her not to wait too late, she would listen and obediently go home before the curfew." - Anniversary book.

Often during the chaos at the airport, it would be you who takes all the presents from the fans. During the Fantasy concert, it would always be you who would walk towards the audience the most to interact with us. So caring...jia you!

In another interview, Vanness expressed: "I feel that I should not affect what the fans should do, I don't want to affect their school work...as long as I don't affect their normal life...that's ok." So for all those Vanness and F4 fans out there - remember not to stay out waiting too late, don't ruin your studies to chase them!

KEN
Those who know Ken well would know that he is cold on the face but warm within. In his heart, he really appreciates and is thankful of fan's support and love but to maintain his "zi wo", he doesn't show it...he has this discussion with Xiao Yan Jie...

KEN:
"You must understand, my situatio now is that everytime I go on the street, people would always say 'Xiao Tian I really like you, can I please have your autograph or can i please take a photo with you' you will come to feel that you are responsible for those people. You feel that because they love you so much, support you so much that everything to do with you will involve them. To be closer you you, you feel you are responsible for them..it's just that..."

XIAO YAN JIE:
"I understand, you come to feel that you should make them making...But I don't think you need to describe it as a kind of responsibilty, because when you get old...they won't necessarily be there forever...you must live you own life...just be yourself. When you are acting, you should act well for them...you are still you. Remember my words, you must live your own life, use your own judgements, they are just your motivation when you perform."

Even if this is so, when Ken was in Shanghai filming for ten or so days, everyday there would be fans on set, even he was moved at the end...He bowed at his fans sincerely before leaving.

There were fans crying and shouting:
"Xiao Tian, we don't want you to go!"
"Xiao Tian, you have to come back ok?"
Maybe it's because these fans are so lovable that after taking two steps, he reappeared and waved to the fans again before finally departing.

Ken once said: "Love those that love you."
Has anyone had a fight with family members because you wanted to support F4? Have you shown the same affection for those around you as you have for F4? If not..then think again!

ZAI ZAI
He wishes for everyone: "To support F4 but protect themselves." Probably it is because too many fans wait for him after school, he doesn't want to waste their time. It's always a troubling issue for ZZ. So what's our best present for him? Don't wait outside of his school...there's other ways to wish him a happy birthday!

"As F4's activities become more and more multicultural, I find myself having more opportunities to see fans' support. I begin to feel that if I don't do my very best, how can I repay those that have been supporting me? It would also make them feel sad, so now, I want to perform even better and make more improvements, that's probably the biggest change in me, since entering showbiz." - Holiday interview

ZZ is going to a year older soon, what do you wish for? We as fans just want to wish you happy birthday and happiness everyday!

Lastly I'll leave you with what Jerry said at the Malaysia Concert:

"F4 has been to 12 cities and held 19 concerts, we have experienced joy, grief, conflict and also lots of pressure and misunderstanding...Lots of people ask will F4 disband? What will be our next step? I will tell you, we will continue to work hard, until there is only person in the audience, only one fan..."
