Lesson 46 : Ken and Languages

Multi-lingual Ken
This guy's language is anything but bad...From mandarin to English to Cantonese. How? Simple, he grew up in a multicultural Singapore, so he knows Indonesian, Thai, Korean, Shanghai dialect...scary huh?

They used to say that the quickest way to learn a language is to find a boyfriend that knows how to speak it... Ken... don't tell me you have had that many girlfriends....

The Thai Surprise
Ken was in Thailand not long ago for the audio dubbing of his latest film and he managed to wow many girls with his fluent Thai...
He said to the girls:
- Klub Baan Dai Laew (you should go home now...)
- Pom Ow Som Tam Mai Ped Ka Kai Yang Kub (when he was ordering, "I want Papaya Salad...not spicy and roasted chicken!"
- Mai Pen Rai (when he got something wrong in the recording room...It's Okay!)

Canton Ken
At Gigi's concert... he was the special guest, singing songs and talking to Gigi in fluent Cantonese...
That's why Vanness said it was cruel to put him after Ken, during their Fantasy Forever Album launch... coz let's face it... Ken's Cantonese is the best out of the foursome.

Ken's Chinese
In 2001, when Ken first worked with the National Geographics show doing audio dubbing. They especially hired a teacher to give him pronounciations lessions. Obviously, Ken is not a professional and just couldn't get those ????? right. What's more, they were doing something on Africa... just those words such as "shi zi"... he managed to NG multiple times. Other than that... much of the translated Chinese was incorrect. The teacher had to continuously remind Ken how to pronounce everything... Ken couldn't help but say: "Must have been with ZZ for too long... it must be contagious."

Few months ago, when Ken was in China, filming with a Chinese director, he managed to learn the typical Beijing Mandarin, adding 'er' at the end of phrases... "Mei wen ti er" (no problems). Ken said: "I've learnt a bit of Beijing dialect... xin er, cheng er, mei wen ti er... hehe... almost a Beijing person now!"

Ken's Other Language
ITALIAN:
Remember in MG, when XM ordered a coffee for XY? "Grazie...expresso" (Expresso, thanks)

SINGLISH:
ABCDEF4 was one of many occasions when he used it.. and that's what Vanness relied on throughout the filming of MG... Ken translated for him!

Class dismissed!
