Lesson 52 : Ken's Idol

Ken defines "ou xiang" as the english word "idol", which is something your imitate and idolize. You must accept their way of thinking and their concepts and adopt them to yourself...then that thing becomes "idol".

Ken's number one idol is the Beatles.
They are probably the most successful rock group ever but due to their era and time of fame, it's hard to conclude just how they became Ken's idols. But Ken says: "I don't like 'new' things. When I was eleven or twelve, the most popular pop music bands were Vanilla Ice, New Kids on the Block, Bryan Adams, but they never really attracted me."

In stead he likes the CDs that were in his house, what Ken called the Golden Era music of the 70's.

Ken likes the Beatles because: "They reflected the reality in everyday life, they sang the imperfections in life and that's why are of value."

Does Ken's view of idols coincide with that of his two brothers? Ken uses the example of Beatles. When they sang or performed, they would wear same suits and adopt the same hairstyle. In Ken's eyes, that image was not good but why did they adopt those looks? Because they were popular, they had their usual audience...Ken describes this process to be a long one...maybe that's what Ken wants to become - someone remembered for who they are. Even if he doesn't shave...people still love him.

As for his favourite female star...who else but Karen Mok?
on't be shy! When he was hosting a show with Karen, he was as red as a tomato, couldn't speak properly...his usual cool self was no hwere to be seen. Even Taozi couldn't help but joke about it and say: "Useless!"

Record of what Ken said about Karen:
"Karen, I think she has a great body. Too bad Jerry took the chance to work with her...so envious!"

When they were filming << Meteor Rain >>, F4 had not seen each other for a while, so filming brought them together again. They chatted non-stop. They asked each other whether they had seen each other's new films and series. Ken spoke first: "I'm very nice, when I have spare time, I would make sure I tuned into << LASH >>." Then he got jealous and started to strangle Jerry saying: "How could you do that to my idol Karen Mok? How could you! Acting with her...then all those intimate scenes - you kissed my Karen!! That's unforgiveable!!" Then Vanness and ZZ joined in his rampage, which left Jerry to just smile stupidly.
