Lesson 76 : Jerry's Student Life

Hardship as a Student
Due to his family's financial situation, Jerry's school life was not so successful. He went to Yong He Xiang Xi Primary, Yong He Yong Ping High School and a night school.

Ah Juan: "He's attended many schools, so during this schooling years, he's not very successful. He looks really tough and cool, so with appearances like that, it often caused a bit of problems for him with other students."

He's been the Ban Zhang of his class throughout his schooling years, achieving good results and loved living the student life. Of course, not to forget his two sweet relationships, which occurred in high school.

Yong: "You said that before you entered the entertainment circle, you were a happy person?"

Jerry: "That's right. That time I didn't have as much things to worry about. I really cherish the memories during by life as a student. I could do things I enjoyed, like playing basketball, going swimming, I didn't have any pressure. But now, there's a large weight on my shoulders."

Jerry's Interesting Facts
Jerry: "Once going to an exam, I forgot which room I was in. I was late and went to the wrong room. I entered that room and pairs of eyes just stared at me...it was so embarrassing, wishing I could just fall into a hole and disappear."

His most memorable moment in school was when his teacher cried because he got poor results.
Jerry: "I remember being the ban zhang in primary and high school. Then it was time for exams for University, there was a lot of pressure on me but that time, I loved to play basketball and on top of that I had a part time job..."

"I remember I was in my last years of high school, I was working at a small eatery. Outside of school hours, I would use the time to work, then play basketaball and study. I lived far from school, I think I got home at around 10 or 11 at night, then have shower...and would read til the early hours of the morning. The pressure to do well was quite huge. I was thinking at the time that my family really needed me, so why not just go find a job first and then think about the rest.

But did you know, I actually really regret that. So many people have studied overseas, I really admire them. I feel that I didn't use my opportunities but I still consider myself lucky. I am lucky enough to enter the industry and have earned a lot of stuff very quickly. However, from an ordinary person's perspective, I hope they don't take the steps I did, as I know they will regret that they didn't study enough later on. Once you leave school and meet people, you will feel inadequate and then realise that you can never lift your head."

Jerry knows that he's not born to be a scholar and has failed many times during this school life but he never gives up. He didn't give up even when he failed to get into University. Jerry admits: "When the results came out and were not good, I didn't continue but I still study when I can. I read all kinds of books during my spare time. When I'm unhappy, I read magazines about life and it inspires me to keep on working hard."
